Banana leaves, curry leaves and South Indian vegetables for banana leaf restaurants, mamak and caterers in Penang and Kedah.
Selvam & Sons began as a wholesale market stall and now runs a depot in Butterworth for the produce Indian kitchens use every day. Banana leaves come as cut sheets or rolls, alongside curry leaves, drumsticks, snake gourd, bitter gourd, ash gourd, okra, green chillies and coconuts from growers in Kedah, Perak and Cameron Highlands.
The main customers are banana leaf restaurants, mamak, temple kitchens and wedding caterers in Seberang Perai, Penang island and Sungai Petani. The depot opens at 4 am and two lorries deliver before lunch service. During Deepavali and the wedding season, caterers should book large leaf orders a week ahead.
Why kitchens choose R. Selvam & Sons Vegetable Supply
- Order by 9 pm for same-morning delivery before lunch
- Banana leaves cut to size or in whole rolls
